Not your average WI

Cambridge Blue Belles is one of a new generation of modern, urban Women’s Institutes.
We don’t sing ‘Jerusalem’ at our meetings and we don’t all sit around knitting and making jam (although some of us love a good crafting session).
We’re scientists, teachers, artists, administrators, project managers, marketers and more. We also have stay-at-home mums, retirees and students in our ranks.
But what we’ve all got in common is a desire to be part of a community of curious, creative and fun-loving women.
Whether you’re a twentysomething or a nonagenarian – or somewhere in between – all fabulous women are welcome here.
Why you should join the WI
Six life-enhancing reasons why you might like to join the Cambridge Blue Belles WI.
Mind-expanding meeting topics
Every month you’ll learn something new – whether it’s tips for decluttering, the art of calligraphy or the fundamentals of lindy hop.
Our brilliant book club
As well as our monthly meetings, we host a lively book club at a central Cambridge pub – you don’t need to have read the book to attend!
Fabulous friendships
It’s hard to meet new people, especially in a transient city like Cambridge. The WI is a great way to make new connections.
Get connected
Crowdsource recommendations for a good plumber or find some friends to join you for a cinema trip in our WhatsApp group.
Be part of something bigger
The WI is the UK’s largest women’s group, with a long campaigning history. Read all about it in the WI magazine, delivered to your door.
Delicious cake & lashings of tea
We take it in turns to bake (or buy) cake to share at the end of each meeting, washed down with a cuppa while we have a good chat.

“I joined the Blue Belles because I moved to Cambridge not knowing anyone, and because I work from home I was feeling quite isolated. Everyone has been so lovely and welcoming. I’d recommend the WI to any woman who feels called to seek out community.”
